About the Speakers:

Peh Li Shiuan, NUS

Prof Peh Li Shiuan joined NUS as Provost’s Chair Professor in the Department of Computer Science, with a courtesy appointment in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in September 2016. Previously, she was Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT and was on the faculty of MIT since 2009. She was also the Associate Director for Outreach at the Singapore-MIT Alliance of Research & Technology (SMART) from 2014-2016. Prior to MIT, she was on the faculty of Princeton University from 2002. She graduated with a Ph.D in Computer Science from Standford University in 2001, and a B.S. in Computing from the National University of Singapore in 1995. Her research focuses on networked computing, in many-core chips as well as mobile wireless systems. She received the IEEE Fellow in 2017, NRF Returning Singaporean Scientist Award in 2016, ACM Distinguished Scientist Award in 2011, MICRO Hall of Fame in 2011, CRA Anita Borg Early Career Award in 2007, Sloan Research Fellowship in 2006, and the NRF CAREER award in 2003.

Shermin Goh, IMRE, A*STAR

Dr Shermin Goh is a research scientist and project leader at IMRE-A*STAR. She graduated with a DPhil in Organic Chemistry from the University of Oxford in 2015 and performed postdoctoral research at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. She joined IMRE in late 2016 where her research focuses on harnessing chemistry to develop functional polymers for sensing and sustainability. Shermin and her team have been developing robust ion sensors for continuous sensing. These sensors can be used in various applications such as wearables, precision agriculture and environmental monitoring.

Pawan Gandhi, KaHa Pte Ltd

Pawan Gandhi is the founder and CEO of KaHa Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based end-to-end IoT platform company for Smart Wearables, with offices in China, India and Switzerland. Pawan has over 15 years of global experience in leadership position at Nokia and WorldSpace.  Has managed operation for a USD 200 million P&L at Nokia and was a key member of the team responsible for WorldSpace IPO in 2005. Under Pawan’s leadership, KaHa has one of the most robust Global IoT platform, with over a million users and growing at a rapid rate.  In addition to smart watches, fitness bands and smart accessories, KaHa has taken the lead in creating smart apparels with capability of monitoring ECG, HRV, fatigue recovery algorithm and setup an AI based data architecture to further drive healthcare industry in Singapore through cutting edge devices, mobile applications, SMART Cloud and ecosystem creation. Other key verticals for KaHa are Digital Payment, Safety for Children, Senior Citizen and Women and Sports & Fitness.
